UP Govt message

Host State for IBET 2026

Uttar Pradesh – Hub of Bioenergy in India

Uttar Pradesh the fourth largest state of India area wise, the largest state population wise and fifth largest state economy wise is making rapid transformation, with its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) more than doubling from ₹13.30 lakh crore in 2016-17 to over ₹30.25 lakh crore in 2024-25, according to the 2025-26 Economic Survey.

The state has the largest agriculture production in the country and counts for 46 % of Sugar production of India. UP as a state has the largest number of cities with 915 total urban units and 64 statutory cities as of 2025. This makes availability of feedstock like Biomass, Produce & waste of Sugar mills, MSW, Used Cooking Oil etc for production of Ethanol. CBG, Briquettes & Pallets, Biodiesel etc quite easy. The market for Biofuel is also readily available in the form of a huge vehicular population which consumes ethanol, biodiesel, the large thermal power plants co fire densified Biomass and the largest number of CGD operators offtake CBG. Due to these factors , UP holds a natural position for largest production of Bioenergy in India. With the strong policy support from Govt of UP this position gets further strengthened, due to which the state is emerging as a Bioenergy Powerhouse of the country.

Uttar Pradesh Bioenergy

UP is the largest ethanol producing state in the country with 180 crore liters of production in 2023-24. Out of 194 commissioned CBG plants 38 are in Uttar Pradesh and 78 new plants are under construction, hundreds of biomass densification plants are functioning in the state.

With a robust production ecosystem the state provides for a natural destination for investment in the Bioenergy. In order to showcase this promising sector to world and to invite investors to UP the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency invited IFGE to bring the India Bioenergy & Tech Expo (IBET) to UP and offered to become the HOST of the event. IFGE happily accepted this request and moved IBET 2026 event to India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The event is aimed to make the Bioenergy Sector in Uttar Pradesh more Vibrant. Besides bringing in investments for Bioenergy production it is also intended that UP should become a strong production centre and hub for development of Bioenergy Technology and Equipment.

The participation of Government of Uttar Pradesh is expected to bring an order of magnitude to the event. Gracious presence of Chief Minister, other senior Ministers, Sr Govt officials, policy makers and industry representative will make this event a most vibrant platform for transacting business in Bioenergy Sector.
